Obsidian is volcanic glass, and the presence of white "snowflakes" marks the transformation of volcanic glass into true rock. Obsidian forms when lava cools quickly. When lava cools more slowly it gives time for crystals to form, creating a snowflake appearance. It is said that Snowflake Obsidian can connect us with loved ones who have crossed over helping us to open a channel, to say all the unsaid things that may be holding us in regret. Like the volcanoes they come from, obsidian brings deeply hidden things to the surface. When we know what we are suffering from we can find the solutions! It is a protective stone, used for ages to dispel negativity so that we can be more open to the beautiful synchronicity all around us. It has been used to aid in developing our psychic abilities, whilst at the same time rooting us to the earth. :)
